Black Bear Exhibit

Black bears live in New Hampshire’s heavily wooded areas and, although classified as carnivores, eat mostly plant material. In this exhibit, discover how bears influence forests by dispersing seeds, turning over logs, and interacting with bees and other wildlife. Complete puzzles, watch a viewable beehive, and observe a live black bear moving through its habitat. Our female bear came here in 2001 from a captive breeding facility, and our male bear arrived in 2022 after rehabilitation in North Carolina made him too habituated to people to return to the wild.
