Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs)
Donor-Advised Funds are a popular and tax-efficient way to make a charitable gift to Squam Lakes Natural Science Center. DAFs can provide you with immediate tax benefits while making your charitable giving easier and making a significant impact on our mission. If you have a DAF, contact your fund provider to make a gift to the Science Center.
Stocks and Securities
Make a gift of publicly-traded securities to the Science Center and potentially save income tax and capital gains tax, too.
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
If you’re over the age of 70½ and have a traditional IRA, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution directly to Squam Lakes Natural Science Center. This type of donation is not subject to income tax, and it counts toward your required minimum distribution (RMD). A QCD is an excellent way to give while minimizing your tax burden.
Life Insurance
Ownership of fully paid life insurance policies may be transferred to Squam Lakes Natural Science Center and can potentially offer significant tax benefits, primarily through an immediate income tax deduction and potential estate tax savings. If you’re interested in donating a portion of or your entire life insurance contract, please contact our team for more information.
Real Estate
A gift of real estate, such as a home or property, can make a meaningful difference for the Science Center. Real estate donations can provide significant tax benefits, and we work closely with you to ensure that your gift meets your philanthropic goals. Donating cryptocurrency can be a tax-efficient way to give. You may be able to avoid paying capital gains taxes on your appreciation and receive a charitable deduction for the full market value of your donation.
