Invasive Plant Species with Liz Stevens, Master Gardener
Liz Stevens lives in Ashland and is the proud mother of four grown children and grandmother to six grandchildren, all of whom have enjoyed their time at the SLNSC. She has gardened her entire life and can hardly remember a time when she wasn’t digging in the dirt. After retiring, Liz enrolled in the UNH Master Gardener program, graduating in 2013. Since then, she has focused on sharing information about the safe removal of terrestrial invasive species. She volunteers at the SLNSC by leading invasive species information sessions and participating in hands-on removal efforts, taking particular satisfaction in tackling knotweed and oriental bittersweet. In addition to her volunteer work, Liz enjoys hiking, gardening, quilting for loved ones, reading, and drawing and painting. She feels incredibly fortunate to live in such a beautiful place and fully embraces all it has to offer.

In celebration of our 60th anniversary, we invite you to join us in August for a month-long BioBlitz —a collaborative effort to document the biodiversity across our conserved campus. With two hundred acres of forests, fields, and wetlands to explore, the Science Center’s property depends on many eyes, ears, and curious minds to help uncover and record the plants, animals, fungi, and insects that call this place home. Using the iNaturalist platform, visitors of all ages can help catalog the living organisms that make this landscape thrive.
